The call came in the final statement of the FABC-OSC Bishops Meet 2026, held in Macau from 27 to 31 October 2026 on the theme &#8220;Magnifica Humanitas and the Synodal Ways of Evangelization in Asia: Communicating Christ in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The statement, signed by FABC-OSC chairman Bishop Marcelino Antonio Maralit Jr. of San Pablo, encourages episcopal conferences &#8220;to establish pastoral safeguards for the use of AI appropriate to their context in line with the teachings of the Church.&#8221; It also commits to promoting AI literacy guided by Pope Leo XIV&#8217;s encyclical Magnifica Humanitas, and to making papal documents and other authentic Church resources available in local languages so that AI platforms can represent the Christian faith accurately.<\/p>\n<p>The bishops warned of online sexual exploitation, cyber scams, deepfakes and unequal access to technology, as well as exploited labour and environmental harm linked to AI.
