The summit
Evangelii Summit Japan meets each year on the weekend of the feast of Christ the King. In 2026 it asks how the household, the liturgy and the dignity of the person stand under Christ the King.
Voices from Japan and abroad include priests, scholars, sacred artists and people who serve the family. Admission is free.

Why this feast
The feast is not a theme chosen for a poster. It is the claim that Christ already reigns, and that mission in Japan is obedience to that reign: in the home, in worship and in public life.

One in Christ, united in mission
キリストにあって一つ、宣教において一致 ― 王であるキリストのもとでの Magnifica Humanitas
On 18 October 2026 the Church kept the 100th World Mission Day. Pope Leo XIV gave it the theme “One in Christ, united in mission.” Behind it stand the motto of his pontificate, In Illo uno unum (“In the one Christ we are one”), and the Lord’s prayer “that they may all be one… so that the world may believe” (Jn 17:21). Communion, the Pope writes with St John Paul II, is both the source and the fruit of mission.
2026年10月18日、教会は第100回「世界宣教の日」を迎えました。教皇レオ十四世はそのテーマを「キリストにおいて一つ、宣教における一致」とされました。その背景には、教皇職のモットー In Illo uno unum（唯一のキリストにおいて、わたしたちは一つ）と、「すべての人を一つにしてください。……そうすれば、世は、あなたがわたしをお遣わしになったことを、信じるようになります」（ヨハネ17・21）という主の祈りがあります。教皇は聖ヨハネ・パウロ二世のことばを引き、「交わりは宣教の源であると同時に実りをも表している」と記しています。
The 8th Evangelii Summit Japan answers that call one month later, on the weekend of Christ the King, under the title Magnifica Humanitas under Christ the King. The Summit is a lay volunteer gathering. Admission is free. It is held on Zoom so that households in Japan and abroad can sit at the same table.
その一か月後、王であるキリストの祭日の週末に、第8回エヴァンジェリー・サミット・ジャパンは「王であるキリストのもとでの Magnifica Humanitas」を掲げて、この呼びかけに応えます。サミットは信徒ボランティアによる集いで、参加は無料です。日本と海外の家庭が同じ食卓を囲めるよう、Zoomで開催します。
Voices for the family, the unborn, the elderly and the young
家庭のために、胎内のいのちのために、高齢者と若者のために
The human person is not a problem to be managed. The person is the first field of mission. In Japan that field is the household under strain: fewer baptisms, fewer marriages, children raised in isolation, the unborn without a public advocate, the elderly dying without a name, youth who cannot see a future in which they are wanted. Evangelization that does not protect the family, the child in the womb, the old and the young is not the mission the Pope has named.
人間は、管理すべき「問題」ではありません。人間こそが、宣教の最初の現場です。日本でいえば、その現場とは重荷を抱えた家庭です。減り続ける洗礼と結婚、孤立の中で育てられる子どもたち、社会の中で声を代弁されることのない胎内のいのち、だれにも名を呼ばれずに亡くなっていく高齢者、自分が望まれる未来を思い描けない若者たち。家庭を、胎内の子を、高齢者と若者を守らない福音宣教は、教皇が示された宣教ではありません。

Sr. Maria Fidelis Rodriguez, SSVM, returns after her 2021 Summit talk on the pro-life movement in Taiwan. She serves at the St. Gianna Beretta Molla Pro-Life Center, begun in 2008 in the Diocese of Hsinchu, whose spirit is to defend every human life from its beginning to natural death. Her congregation places every apostolate under Our Lady, Mother of Life. Salesian Father Gaetano Compri, 96, in Japan since 1955, lends three recorded lessons: no. 3 “The human being”, no. 26 “The family” and no. 27 “You shall not kill”.

Midori Akasaka, Representative Director of Certified NPO Florence, speaks on child-rearing that is not isolation (see below). Father Joseph Aytona, CPM, preaches the family, the Eucharist and the Blessed Mother. Professor Akihiko Watanabe reads how faith was carried in Catholic households across the sea. Kakimori Kazutoshi speaks on the handing-on of faith through family and community on Narushima. Canon Raphael Katsuyuki Ueda speaks on Christ the King, the sacred liturgy and the family. Father Daniel J. Seo, of Our Lady of Peace Korean Catholic Center in California, brings Korean Catholic memory, the shrine of Our Lady of Peace and the road to World Youth Day Seoul 2027, so that Japanese and Korean youth may walk as pilgrims and as evangelizers.
カリフォルニア州オレンジ、平和の聖母韓国カトリック・センターのダニエル・ソ神父は、韓国カトリックの記憶、平和の聖母の聖地、そして2027年ソウルのワールドユースデーへの道について語ります。日本と韓国の若者が、巡礼者として、また福音を伝える者として、ともに歩めるように。

Art and music as a school of the heart
心を育む学び舎としての芸術と音楽
Daniel Mitsui, sacred artist in the manuscript tradition, who received a Vatican commission in 2011, treats line and gold as evangelization. Hiroko Asai, organist, speaks of music that leads a person to Christ and of music that heals. Professor Keiji Katsumata and the Saint Anselm Gregorian Choir serve the chant that joins the family to the liturgy. Father Irinel Dobos, OFM Conv., parish priest of Kameari, spoke last year of the King who is not afraid to kneel.

- Twenty years that began with a small unease: from a parent using Florence’s sick-child care to Representative Director, and a work that widened as each new need appeared. 導入：小さな違和感から始まった20年 ― 利用者会員から代表理事へ。病児保育から始まり、目の前の親子に向き合う中で領域を広げてきた歩み。

Fires Encounter at the Summit
サミットとファイアーズ・エンカウンター
This year's Summit also features Fires Encounter, a family-renewal ministry for couples, families and young people. Its ministry, like the Summit's focus this year, is the family.
FIRES stands for Families, Intercommunication, Relationships, Experiences, Services. The programmes were originated by Father Gabriel Calvo, founder of Marriage Encounter, for married couples, engaged couples, families, sons and daughters, individuals, priests and religious. They are two-day spiritual programmes of witness, reflection, sharing and prayer, to build more honest and loving relationships with oneself, with one’s family, with others and with God, open not only to Christians but to anyone who sincerely wishes to encounter self, others and God.
今年のサミットには、夫婦・家族・若者のための家庭刷新のミニストリー、ファイアーズ・エンカウンターも加わります。その奉仕の対象は、今年のサミットと同じく家庭です。FIRES は Families（家族）、Intercommunication（通じ合い）、Relationships（関係）、Experiences（体験）、Services（奉仕）の頭文字です。マリッジ・エンカウンターの創始者ガブリエル・カルボ神父によってつくられたプログラムで、夫婦、婚約者、家族、息子・娘、個人、司祭・修道者のための、あかし・内省・分かち合い・祈りによる二日間の霊的プログラムです。自分自身と、家族と、人々と、そして神と、より正直で愛に満ちた関係を築くことを目的とし、信者だけでなく、自分自身と人と神に誠実に出会いたいと願うすべての方に開かれています。
