World Youth Day 2027 will be held in Seoul, South Korea, from 3 to 8 August 2027. The theme is “Take courage! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Before the main days, the Days in the Dioceses run from 29 July to 2 August 2027, when fifteen Korean dioceses outside Seoul will welcome pilgrims into their parishes and homes.

It will be the first World Youth Day in Korea, and the first in Asia since Manila in 1995. Pope Leo XIV announced the dates at the close of the Jubilee of Young People in Rome on 3 August 2025: “I look forward to seeing you in Seoul.”

International pilgrim registration is scheduled to open in late October 2026. Please register only through the official WYD Seoul website.

From Japan: the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Japan is preparing pilgrim groups from Japan for both the Days in the Dioceses and the main event. Its WYD Seoul Japan office is part of the youth ministry section, and several dioceses have named a contact person. Ask your diocese or parish how to join. Evangelii Network Japan will share news as it comes.
